Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow

As you know from some of my other posts, I love this whole swapping business. Even though I get myself in a pickle from time to time, I am enamored of the whole process which causes me to actually make something. If left to my own devices, I fear I'd never make anything worthwhile.

But here is the bad part, sometimes out of nowhere, I make something that I love so much myself that I can't take my eyes off of it, and I can hardly bear to part with it. If it weren't for my knowing that I've made this creation with my wonderful swap partner in mind; if it weren't for my knowing that it's going to a good home, and if I weren't full of some holiday spirit, well, hmmmmm, let's just say...well, can I just say it? I'd have to beg for custody!!!

The Vintage Tree Top swap hosted by Under the Red Roof was a creative nightmare for me, at first...Bristol, my partner, loves soft colors, as do I. But she explained to me that her home demands a more traditional colored holiday theme...you know, red and green. Which are nice colors, but I have to *think* and *ponder* and nothing comes easily in this color scheme for me...but there is nothing at all wrong with having to think and ponder and muster up some creative sweat once in a while, so to the work bench I went.Well...when all was said and done, {I hope I'm too self-focused here, forgive me if I am!:)}, I loved it soooooo much, I could barely send it out. Not because I didn't want Bristol to have the best of all tree toppers I could cobble together, but because I fell in love with red and green! Hmmpff. Imagine that! Red and green....I can only cross my fingers that she'll love it, too! After all, that's what swaps are all about, right? Not me, but the one I'm making it for! Now, just wait till I post what I received from Bristol...makes it all the more sweet!
